Presentasi Diri Pemandu Lagu : Studi Dramaturgi Presentasi Diri Pemandu Lagu di Kota Garut

This research is entitled *Self-Presentation of Karaoke Hostesses in Garut*. Karaoke is one form of entertainment chosen to spend leisure time and seek pleasure after an exhausting day, particularly for individuals who enjoy nighttime entertainment. One of the most distinctive features of karaoke venues is the presence of female companions who guide and entertain guests, commonly known as karaoke hostesses. These hostesses accompany and entertain customers during their time in karaoke bars. This study aims to identify the front-stage and back-stage aspects of karaoke hostesses in Garut.

This research applies Erving Goffman’s theory using the dramaturgical perspective. According to this concept, individuals shape their behavior to support the roles they perform. Similar to a theatrical performance, individuals in real life prepare various forms of “performance equipment,” including setting, costume, language or dialogue, and nonverbal behavior. These elements are intended to create a favorable impression during social interactions and to facilitate the achievement of personal goals.

The results of the study indicate that the front stage of karaoke hostesses involves several factors, including environmental influences such as social associations and lifestyle preferences. Meanwhile, the back stage of karaoke hostesses is influenced by factors such as economic conditions and family needs.
